DCANet Founder Receives Award from Chamber of Commerce
Wilmington, DE, March 22, 2004 - Keith Duncan, Ph.D., founder, president and CEO of DCANet, was recognized as Board Member of the Year by the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented in recognition of Dr. Duncan's significant contributions to the Chamber's IT infrastructure.
Dr. Duncan received the award at the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner as Governor Ruth Ann Minner, members of Delaware's congressional delegation, Wilmington Mayor James Baker and County Executive Thomas Gordon looked on.
In the past year DCANet has assumed the role of improving and supporting the Chamber's IT infrastructure by replacing aging computers with a network of terminal servers and providing technical support to the Chamber's staff.
Dr. Duncan expressed his gratitude for the honor and talked about the work that lead to the award. "We have worked actively with the Chamber for years," he said, "and we saw that it was facing challenges common to many small-to-medium sized nonprofits, particularly when it comes to implementing and supporting information technology. DCANet is able to provide the engineering, implementation and support that would otherwise be beyond the resources of a small-to-medium nonprofit organization. We are very pleased with how well these improvements are working out."
DCANet is focused on providing cutting edge converged services such as VoIP, iSCSI IP-addressable storage, metro-gigabit Ethernet transit and hosted applications. All of these new products require significant bandwidth and high-quality network services. By running and maintaining a regional fiber network, DCANet will be able to deliver on the promise of these new technologies.
